ATI 9200 Driver problems

ATI don't have a Vista video driver for the Radian Mobility 9200 series of card and the driver that Vista installed by default turns the screen of my test laptop into a greenie/blue mass of lines!
There is no error message and the OS seems to be running fine, in safe mode it is still messed up but in VGA only mode it works okay. Is there a better video driver I can use for this card? If not, will Microsoft be replacing this default driver anytime soon so I can reinstall Vista on this Laptop?
Has anyone else seen this problem?
Rich

Microsoft does not write drivers. They get the drivers from the hardware manufacturers, in this case, ATI. As you have found, ATI has chosen not to support this video card at this time.

Thanks for the reply,
I understand the issue is the lack of ATI support for this card but I am concerned why the installation not warn me my video card was not supported? I ran the Vista Upgrade Advisor which informed me I could run the "core experiences of Windows Vista" so I wasted a number of hours going through a pointless installation. This created a VERY poor user experience.
I had a full ASR backup so it was easy to restore but your average user will be in a "bad place" if they just downloaded and ran Beta 2.

Yes, the average user is in a pickle. But take heart, I'm sure that someone will write a driver for the card. I think somebody does it under the name of "Omega" or something, but don't quote me.

Do what I did and go for the cheapest card that will support Aero Glass without needing extra power couplings etc... Radeon 9550 - works beautifully, got it for $75 brand new on eBay.

I would love to but on this laptop (like most), this is not an option :-( I think I will file a bug against the Upgrade Advisor as this is exactly the type of problem it should be able to detect.

I had a Radeon 9200 card, it worked fine with Vista, just no Aero
I
upgraded to the best card I could afford to buy, the X1600, now it all works fine "Blax" wrote in message
